Sunday morning dawned bright and early. Unfortunately I was not there when it did so as I was still asleep until 9:30 am. Lynne and I had arranged that we would wake each other at 10:30 so I luxuriated in lying in the bed and remembering the events of the evening before hand.
Eventually I arose, showered and, having shaved, put on my daytime face and began to get dressed for the day ahead.
Lynne and I had decided, in a lax moment perhaps, that we would visit the British Museum today.
I dressed in the same clothes I had arrived in the day before but substituted boots for the shoes I had worn. As it turned out this was a mistake because by the end of the day I had a blister under the ball of my left foot which made walking difficult but at the time it seemed like the right thing to do.
Having dressed and it being 10:30 I went and knocked on Lynne’s door and then I went and had my breakfast. Lynne eventually arrived for breakfast after which I had to pack and check out of the hotel.
Lynne said that she would change and meet me in the lounge after I had taken my things down the road to my car.
I packed, handed my key in at reception and then walked down the road pulling my case along behind me and put my things in my car. The hotel I had left it at said there was no problem in my leaving it there during the day so having left all of my things I returned to the hotel and waited for Lynne to get herself ready.
When she was ready we left the hotel and walked to Earls Court tube station stopping at boots so that she could buy some nail varnish remover and glue remover. We did get a few looks but nothing untoward.
We then entered the tube station, purchased tickets and descended in the lift to the Piccadilly line so that we could travel to Russell Square which was the station for the British Museum.
The tube journey was relatively uneventful. We did get some looks but nothing too bad and soon we ascended to street level and made out way to the northern museum entrance.
We spent about an hour and a half in the museum wandering about and looking at the exhibits eventually leaving by the entrance we had entered by and walking back to Russell Square.
Here we found a bench and sat in the sun for some time. A New Zealand lady was sitting on the bench as we arrived and we had a short talk with her and asked if she minded taking a picture of the two of us. She said that it was no problem so I lent her my camera and she took the two pictures.
After spending some time sitting in the sunshine we made our way back to the tube station and journeyed back to Earls Court. Once there we made for the hotel intending having a coffee in a cafe but by that time my left foot was giving me agony and I excused myself and having said our farewells I made my way to my car and drove out of London.
I eventually changed at Newport Pagnell Service station where I had something to eat and drink.
All in all quite an eventful two days.
